Report Electricity Theft

Electricity theft costs more than just money: it is a dangerous crime that can start fires and cause serious injury.

Austin Energy has trained field investigators who examine an average of 20 cases of possible electricity theft daily. The utility works with law enforcement to prosecute cases of electricity theft, which can result in probation or jail time for the offending individual. Austin Energy has also has issued thousands of meter tampering fines to recover the cost of equipment damage and stolen electricity.
