Community Meeting Set to Look at Equity in Energy Efficiency Programs
February 18, 2022
Austin Energy and Adisa Communications want to hear from the community about potential access barriers to the utility’s energy efficiency programs. Approved by the Austin City Council and the Electric Utility Commission, the first of several virtual community meetings takes place Tuesday, Feb. 22. Attendees will discuss possible barriers to participation in these programs for the elderly, lower-income and people of color.
Austin Energy’s energy efficiency programs range from weatherization of homes to rebates for energy efficient appliances and provide short-term and long-term cost savings for customers.
“Austin Energy delivers numerous programs to help residential customers save money on energy bills,” said Sarah Chatterjee, Austin Energy Director of Energy Efficiency Services. “We want more people know about and use our energy efficiency and demand response programs.”
